Peach Picking at Eckert's

Believe it or not, this 25 year old gal from Alabama (backwoods and farm country U.S.A) has never gone peach picking before? Strawberry picking? Yes. Blueberry picking? Yes. Orange and Satsuma picking? Yes. In fact, I had my very own citrus garden when I was growing up. It was such an exciting time of year when I got to go outside and pick all of our fresh fruit and then we shared our lemons, tangerines, satsumas, kumquats, and oranges with neighbors, family, and friends. ...Wow, I easily get off topic! So, Tiphanie (and Starlie) go peach picking for the first time! Yay!

I went with my friend Carla and her children. Our girls (mine 2 years old and hers 3 years old) are best friends and love getting to go places and play together. :D

The peaches were just beautiful and they tasted even better than they look. At Eckert's you get to eat all you want while you pick, for free!

Starlie really loved the peaches and even helped Mommy put a few in the basket. Although she enjoyed taking them out of the basket and eating them instead. :p

These were all of the peaches that Starlie and I picked. They were 99 Cents a lb and one of those baskets could hold about 16-20 lbs. I ended up spending about 38 dollars total but it was well worth it! After we were done picking the peaches we went home and canned them! Now we will have fresh peaches to last us the whole year and I have to say that these canned peaches are good good good!
We also went Strawberry Picking and Apple picking at different times this Summer and Fall. We made home-made Strawberry Jelly and so I also have delicious Jelly for the year (also for a few Christmas gifts). Eckert's does all kinds of produce at different time through out the year. I highly recommend them for a fun day picking your own fresh produce! Here is a link if you want to check them out: http://www.eckerts.com/
